How Licensed Taxi grew from a Southampton startup to a UK network

The Beginning

Founded in Southampton

Licensed Taxi was founded with a straightforward frustration: booking a licensed, trustworthy taxi in the UK was harder than it should be. Surge pricing, cash-only rides and unvetted drivers were the norm. We set out to fix that.

Early Growth

South Coast network established

We built our first driver network across Southampton, Winchester, Fareham and the New Forest — focusing on airport transfers and corporate accounts. Our first NHS trust partnership followed shortly after.

Going Digital

Platform & app launched

We launched the Licensed Taxi booking platform — web, iOS and Android — with real-time tracking, upfront fares and WhatsApp booking. Every channel connected to one dispatch engine, one pricing model, one standard.

Expanding UK-Wide
